Heavy frost or ice buildup can happen when the defrost system fails (heater, thermostat, or control board), when the door seal is damaged, or when warm, humid air enters frequently due to frequent door opening.

If you notice thick frost on the evaporator cover or walls, avoid chipping it with sharp tools and schedule a professional fridge or freezer repair to prevent damage to the liner or coils.

Frequent cycling can be caused by dirty condenser coils, a fridge set too cold, warm room temperatures, or a failing thermostat, sensor, or control board. A weak door gasket can also cause the compressor to run longer.

Continuous or short cycling can shorten compressor life, so it’s a good idea to have the system checked if the fridge rarely seems to shut off.

Use a fridge thermometer to verify that the fresh food compartment is between 3–4°C (37–40°F). If temperatures drift out of range even after adjustments, it’s time to schedule a professional refrigerator inspection.

Food freezing in the fridge section usually means the temperature is set too low, the damper is stuck open, or a sensor or control board is misreading the internal temperature.

Try moving sensitive items (like produce) away from direct air vents and set the temperature closer to the recommended 3–4°C. If items still freeze, a technician can test the sensors, controls, and airflow system.

Condensation or water droplets inside the fridge are often caused by warm, humid air entering through a worn door gasket, misaligned doors, or frequent door opening. Storing uncovered hot food can also introduce extra moisture.

Check the door seals for gaps or cracks and make sure the fridge is level so the doors close properly. If moisture persists, further diagnosis may be needed to rule out airflow or defrost issues.

Clean the condenser coils at least once or twice a year, keep door seals clean and intact, avoid blocking air vents with food, and do not overload shelves so air can circulate. Set temperatures between 3–4°C (37–40°F) for the fridge and -18°C (0°F) for the freezer.
